For the study, the researchers looked specifically at adolescent girls at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and found those who reported a recent binge-eating session also had low mindfulness scores. The researchers note that binges are associated with a desire to escape, and by focusing on the present moment you combat the urge to get away, which could reduce overeating.
