Participating in the award season circuit requires a closet full of floor-grazing gowns and haute-couture costumes (or at least an amazing stylist on speed dial). Last night the celebrities wore their best designer duds to walk the Golden Globes red carpet, and there were a few styles that continued to appear again and again. If you missed watching these stunning looks live, here’s a cheat sheet to every fashion trend you missed.

1. Plunging Necklines

While some stars chose to show skin in backless gowns, these ladies selected navel-grazing necklines.

Looking at the Golden Globes red carpet, sometimes the dresses were even better from the back. Stars like Eva Longoria and Laverne Cox made sure to strike an over-the-shoulder pose to give the crowd a unique view of their designer gowns. These backless ensembles will inspire you to do one more back extension the next time you hit the gym. See the best rear views from the Golden Globes ahead!

Brie Larson’s gold Calvin Klein number was even more stunning from the back.

Although revealing, nearly nude dresses seem to be the trend on the red carpet, some stars have mastered the art of subtle skin. Sometimes a sliver of thigh is all you need to get the camera’s attention. At the People’s Choice Awards last night, celebrities like Lea Michele and Shay Mitchell showed off their toned legs in short minidresses and high splits. You’ll be craving a thigh-blasting workout after spying these red-carpet looks.

When walking the red carpet, follow Vanessa Hudgens’ rule: best thigh forward.  Her metallic Kayat gown had a high split that showed off her glowing gams.

Sandra Bullock made her legs look even longer by pairing her Monique Lhuillier with nude shoes.

Ellen Pompeo’s Michael Kors Collection ensemble revealed just the right amount of thigh as she posed on the People’s Choice red carpet.

Kaley Cuoco switched to sneakers for the press room at the end of the night. The Dior flats still matched her sequin Manning Cartell minidress perfectly.

Award season for 2016 has begun, which means months of sparkly gowns and floor-length designer creations, right? Wrong! At the People’s Choice Awards, pants were the top pick for the celebrities on the red carpet. Of course, these looks weren’t your basic work trousers. Stars like Natalie Dormer and Melissa McCarthy dressed up their capris and jumpsuits with details like sequins and tuxedo stripes. See all the menswear-inspired looks from last night ahead.

Kate Hudson glowed in an all-white, strapless Stella McCartney jumpsuit. The one-piece ensemble was unique thanks to wide legs and a satin tuxedo stripe.

Melissa McCarthy sparkled on the red carpet with two People’s Choice statues and a pair of black sequin pants.

Praver on the way to the shore near her Malibu home. Photo by Clarke Tolton

This article originally appeared in the January/February 2016 issue of SELF.

“Seeing the ocean when I wake up instantly makes me happy,” says Praver, who grew up catching waves in Maui and now lives near the water in Malibu, California. Praver channels that sporty, beachy vibe into her swimwear line, which mixes athletic silhouettes with lush colors. Mornings at home with her husband, pro surfer Danny Fuller, and their 2-year-old daughter, Ryan, are plenty active. Most days, she gets up at 7:30 a.m., grabs a slice of cinnamon-raisin toast with almond butter, then heads to a workout: either yoga, a circuit training class like Gabrielle Reece’s HIGHX or, if there’s time (and the tide is high), surfing. “I like to switch up my fitness so I don’t get bored!” Praver says. After a quick shower, she rubs on coconut oil (“It’s the best moisturizer”) and gets dressed. “My go-to look is jeans and a T-shirt, but I’m so indecisive,” Praver admits. “I’m like, I just need to pick something and get out of the house!”

5 Things That Get Her Up And Out

1. Botanical Scents “I use lavender oil in my diffuser in the morning. The smell is calming but energizing.”

2. Fitspo “I take Gabrielle Reece’s HIGHX class. She’s such an amazing athlete.”

3. Design Ideas “The colors (above) in my collections are inspired by my travels—this shade reminds me of the sunset in Mexico.”

4. Postworkout Smoothies “I whip up kale, coconut butter and frozen bananas. It’s a way to get my greens and nutrients with a sweet taste.”

5. Comfy Kicks “I love the worn-in look of these (above). On chilly mornings, I’ll wear them to and from yoga.”

2015 is the year that sweatpants transitioned from a dance studio staple to a street style fashion favorite (you can totally blame the normcore movement). And while joggers aren’t normally associated with being chic, celebrities have found ways to elevate the classic gym gear. Here are a few styling ideas to help you stay comfy and still look stunning:

1. Go all black. Gigi Hadid’s sweats could pass for fitted slacks thanks to her monochromatic color scheme.

2. Mix your sweats with unexpected layers like a patterned top, embellished jewelry, and a bright fedora (à la Cara Delevingne).
