If you really want to start your mornings off right, try this intense workout led Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix. It’s only about five minutes, but even New York Fashion Week model Kai Newman was feeling the burn by the end of the sweat session.
The moves are from Felix’s Nike+ Training Club app, and they’re all meant to energize your morning routine. The first move is a walk out. You use both hands to slowly bring your body down into a plank position. Then, you walk your hands towards your feet to get back to your starting position. The video continues with one minute of alternating runner’s lunges, 30-second side planks with a knee drive on each side, 30-second A-skips, and 30 seconds of high knees. It’s a quick routine, but it’s very effective. “I think I’m going to stick to modeling,” Newman chuckles once they wrap things up. “One thing that helps me after a hard workout is to get some protein and recover,” suggests Felix. The ladies definitely earned at least one slice of pepperoni pizza after that tough workout.
