If you’ve ever had any doubts about whether Carrie Underwood is one of the better country singers of our time, you’re in for a treat. Last week, the Country Music Association released Forever Country, a star-studded music video that features Underwood belting out a few verses of Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You. (Whitney Houston made the tune extra famous in her 1992 movie The Bodyguard, but Parton wrote the song back in 1973.) In a twist of pure music magic, Forever Country’s popularity inspired fans to recirculate a March video clip of Underwood singing those same gorgeous lyrics on The Bobby Bones Show, a radio program in Nashville. Her rendition is absolutely beautiful.
In the clip, Underwood is seen giving a live performance of I Will Always Love You in the Bobby Bones studio, accompanied by a talented guitarist. She adds passion to each note and makes listeners want to hang onto every lyric. Even if you’re not a big country fan, you just might finding yourself tearing a tiny bit at the emotion in her voice. Watch the video below and enjoy. (You’re welcome.)
